Grace City Church, formerly known as Faithworld Christian Center,
opened its doors on January 5th, 2003, with five families consisting of 15 members in total. With a team of seven members, Pastor Calvin Sr. began canvassing the streets of East Chicago, Indiana. The ministry began to flourish through prayer, fasting, and faith. Between 2003-2009, GCC had filled its 170 seat auditorium. In their ninth year, they obtained a 500 seat auditorium for $1.00, from the City of East Chicago. With a renovation project at hand, GCC raised over $100,000 to repair the roof of their new building, along with other immediate much-needed repairs.
At the beginning of August 2020, God granted permits to begin renovating the first level of the new auditorium, and now in September, they launch their building campaign to raise $82,000 by December 6th. Phase 2 has begun the repairs to the main floor, which is the sanctuary, administrative offices, and welcome center. This including wheelchair accessible washrooms, a lactation room for nursing mothers, and more.
The final goal, after phase 2, is to raise an additional $650,000 to finalize the entire building project, which will give way to several outreach programs for youth and adults-utilizing their mid-size gymnasium.
